Glitter, Gold, and One year

Seattle readers may know about the glitter and Gold sale sponsored by Seattle Goodwill. www.seattlegoodwill.org/glitter The sale runs one weekend every November, and is a collection of, you guessed it, glitter and gold items donated throughout the year. In addition to the glitz and glam you find designer items, vintage pieces, and most importantly wedding dresses ranging vintage through modern.

Aside from being a great cause Glitter and Gold marks the anniversary of the creation of Twice Blushed. My idea to create a home for this niche market began to evolve last year just a few weeks before the sale. I heard about the event from a friends. The timing was all a little to perfect. This time last year I purchased my first round of gowns to practice on and develop the structural outline/process of Twice Blushed. That day was an extremely emotional experience and a story for another time.

To all of my family, friends, and those involved in the UW independent Fashion Program, I would not have made it this far without your support and knowledge. Happy 1 Year!

The photos below (and fresh out of the bag) are of the dresses I scored at this year's Glitter and Gold sale. The re-designed future for all of them is already dancing in my head!

Welcome

I am not a writer or an English Major and am the first to admit I am a horrible speller.

That said the purpose of this blog is not to journal my day to day epiphanies, rather reveal my works in progress.

The gown reconstruction process is a creative and contemplative puzzle. Measure and think twice, but cut only once.

Once a week I will share with documentation of my reconstructed gowns as they are in process.
I hope you enjoy the transformations.
