This week’s hat is designed for those that like options and some bang for your buck. The Gin Swizzle Fascinator is an asymmetrical curve slightly “S” shaped that can be worn in any direction with any hairstyle long, short, up, or down. No joke I’ve tried. To accommodate your personal style the hat can be purchased as a single layer of silk satin fabric with no fuss or frills (picture above left) perfect for casual and slightly dressed events.

Those favoring mix & match options, a few dollars more will give you the same hat shape with strategically placed pleats to hid two accessory attachment points on the fascinator. The purpose of the double points is to stay true to wearing the hat in any direction while allowing you to customize your hat with removable accessories (flowers, feathers, small broaches, and vintage buttons) or to wear the hat alone. The Accessories or “Swizzle” are designed to be worn not only on the hat but also as individual hair accessories without the hat (flower variation above right). Simple but tasteful Tear-shaped fascinator can be worn in any direction. Covered with carefully stretched gold silk shantung to mimic the rushed technique used in dress design and construction to add a slight detail. Adorned around the edge with a row of double satin pleated ribbon.

To make this hat multi-functional it is smartly constructed with a single layer detachable veil. Grace the runway (isle rather) with the veil to please the elders then simple remove for the reception after. (Veil could also be paired with a detachable birdcage veil)

Whether we want to admit it or not we all secretly love a good game or day dream of dressing up. The designer in me loves the classic and polished head to toe grace of the English. Of course I am stoked to see the entire country sparkling at the end of this month for the Royal Wedding!

As a hat lover (who feels stifled by the weather and lack of hat respect on this side of the globe) I am delighted to see the gradual interest in hats head decor. Ladies get over your fears of “How” to wear them. They are just like hand bags and stellar heals, every lady should own at least a few in the basic colors!

Yes, like any good accessories they can be costly - there is a lot of delicate handy work that goes into those little babies! I am fully embracing all the pomp and circumstance for the young upcoming nuptials and passing on my love for hats with a custom hat sale!!!

Photography play dates!

If you are a face book junkie, you have noticed the blurbs about my photo shot with f83photo at the end of February. If you do not fallow facebook (I know there are a rare few) here is what you missed.

Last Summer Jason Fukura of F83photo and I crossed paths through route of a mutual industry friend. Since then we have been trying to jive schedules to do a fun get together photo shot. After two strike outs, one due to snow, we finally scored some great shots and had a fun and rewarding but long day! Some of the gowns I used were spankin’ new just for the shot, while others are customer favs that have not yet had the opportunity to be photographed.
